PC GAMING ISN'T DEAD?!?!

So about 2 hours ago I was sitting next to my laptop thinking about what game I would like to play and Diablo 3 just kept popping into my head. However I realized it isn't out yet and that my laptop can no way in hell handle the game. I did remember hearing about Torchlight however. My laptop is about 4 years old and can't handle much in the area of gaming so when it comes to PC gaming I am very limited. I don't have the extra $20 right now and I just missed the $5 sale on Steam so I decided to try out the demo for Torchlight. About 10 minutes after I started the download it finished up and started to install. I was concerned due to problems in the past with my computer and attempting to play Spore. I was however pleasantly surprised when the game loaded up without any lag. I changed some of the settings down to medium to accommodate my old computer. Moments later I created my character, named my cat, and chose my role. The game is broken down into 3 classes, they are your standard mage-like, warrior-like, and thief-like. I started my mage-like character and on I went.

The demo of the game is limited to 2 hours of play time so I didn't take much of the story in as I started playing. However right away the game instantly screams Diablo and WOW. The art direction looks similar to WOW and the play style is definitely Diablo. I had very little lag when I was playing which as I said before was odd due to my older computer. I didn't even have to learn the controls due to time with both WOW and Diablo in my younger-er years. All the features are there, identify items, click to attack...and for just about everything else, and the many portals to and from towns and dungeons. The quests seem to be varied as well splitting between taking out certain monsters or helping certain NPCs. I assume there are even more things to do but as I only got to play for 2 hours it is still fairly impressive to have that much to do that quickly.

Overall I had a blast playing the demo for the game and hopefully soon I will have the funds to get the full game and enjoy dungeon crawling till Diablo 3 comes out. It isn't Diablo 3 but it does a very good job as a great dungeon crawler and giving us a great game to tide us over and maybe depending on how well it does maybe even snag a few players away from Diablo 3. If you have the time head on over to the homepage and snag the demo to see what you think. Thanks for reading.

Demo Decision - Give it a go + $20 not that bad for the amount of game play
you get
