So first off I would like to apologize for my lateness in blogging. I had been sick for the past week and couldn't do a whole lot of anything. I however am back and kicking...for the most part and it's time for a blog.
So recently I have been on a movie kick...thus the lack of game playing. I have so far worked my way through half the Harry Potter movies and am finishing up watching...in all honesty for the first time...the Die Hard Quadrilogy. I have never been a huge fan of action movies and I tend to enjoy the occasional torture porn...such as Ichi the Killer or Hostel. However in watching the Die Hard films and lately watching a couple other action based movies it has come to my attention...I LOVE ACTION MOVIES. I will specify however that action movies based in the 90's are far better than anything nowadays. The first 3 Die Hard movies are far better than the newer one. Everything about earlier cinema has already far surpassed anything anyone could come up with now. I do not hate current movies. This is far from how I feel. I do think however that movies in the 80's and 90's are far more personal and have a lot more heart to them. They aren't all CGI and even though puppets seem to be cheesy I would still take the old Henson turtles over the new CGI turtles any day of the week.
I can say that fantasy movies in my opinion have picked up a bit in the 00's as Harry Potter can point out. I am 24 years of age and I still fall into that fantasy world every time I turn on any of those movies. The movies do use a lot of CGI but it is very well blended into the background and doesn't tend to pull away because of the world you are supposed to be experiencing. This is far different from the crap movies are doing currently with 3-D and all those other gimmicks.
This brings me to my point. If you have a good story and good action you shouldn't have to fuck it up by filling the screen with CGI monkeys and inner dimensional creatures...yeah Indiana Jones...I went there. Fantasy movies can use it due to they are creating a new world. However the next time I watch an action movie and I see massive CGI I will walk out and flame the fuck out of the film. Michael Bay...stop. No more shitty Transformers wannabes.
